It is a well-known fact, that cystic acne is the harshest form of acne. Cystic acne’s swollen red colored pustules are extremely painful. They also cause the skin to become irritated and itchy. Hence, it is a common tendency for sufferers to squeeze the pimples and even scratch and/or prick them. Many people even touch the swollen pustules to see how big they are! This is extremely dangerous, and one of the root causes of related scarring. When the pimples dry up, they leave behind a mark on the skin either in the form of a scar or a visible pit.
The extent to which the pimples were scratched, will determine the permanency or the darkness of the scars. In some cases, excess squeezing and pricking may cause bleeding from the swollen pustules. In such cases, it becomes almost certain, that the particular pimple is going to leave behind a dark scar. Scars will be almost impossible to remove without going under the knife. This is why all skin care experts, and dermatologists, when consulted, warn patients not to squeeze or even touch their pimples.
Even touching the pimples can cause the infection to grow. People’s fingers contain germs and bacteria. When they come into direct contact with an already infected area of the skin; the infection can begin spread all over skin’s surface.
Most of the lighter colored scars will vanish with time, as the skin gets older and stretches. However, as mentioned earlier, if the scars are too dark or dense, then it is very difficult to get rid of them. Even the application of bleaching and scar removing cream creams won’t have much or an effect on dark marks or scars caused by the manipulation of the pimples by the acne sufferer.
