Chemicals used in the treatment of Cystic Acne |
|
The face must be regularly cleaned so as to keep the acne in control. Cystic Acne, the severest form of acne generally affects the face. Cystic Acne is extremely painful and therefore undesirable. Cysts are formed on the surface of the skin, which make the smooth skin look rough and ugly. Benzoyl Peroxide is often used in the treatment of such acne.
The chemical (Benzoyl peroxide) removes the extra oil content from the skin, so as to prevent the clogging of pores and formation of new acne. However if the skin is too sensitive, then Benzoyl Peroxide can cause the skin to dry too much and hence start chapping. Also, if too much of the chemical is applied, then also the skin becomes dry. The quantity which is has the best results, depends from skin to skin. For e.g. something which might work on someone’s skin may completely be unsuitable for someone else’s skin.
Therefore many dermatologists recommend cleaning of the face by moisturizers which are not to harsh on the skin, after the application of Benzoyl Peroxide or any other chemical which is supposed to take away the extra oil content. This helps in providing the minimum oil content to the skin, and prevents the skin for drying and chapping.
Medical Practitioners also advise against the application of bath soaps or sunscreen lotions, etc. on the acne affected skin. The bath soaps contain chemicals which are too harsh on the skin, and can aggravate the problem of acne too much. Even sunscreen lotions contain chemicals which are not sensitive skin friendly. Hence, dermatologists advise the use of oil free products. Most oil free soaps or sunscreen lotions do not affect the acne. However if the case is to severe than taking the advise of a skin care expert or a medical practitioner is recommended.
